I see your point eva, but on the other hand I don't like forums where "old timers" complain when newcomers want to discuss again a topic which had been raised before. This policy ends up with forums never having fresh blood, which would be a pity.

I know, although I didn't mean same topics cannot be discussed again, the discussion can happen in the same thread that already exists. I see it to be more fruitful that way, and no one has to reinvent the wheel.

As poster on several forums I always find it hard to pick between bumping an old thread or starting a new one. It usually leads to complaints like don't necro these ancients threads or use the search function next time.

By the way, shouldn't this forum be named announcements instead of annoncements? I assume that is a typo?

I totally agree with you on this point Eva.

I'm a member of a few forums, and on every one there is a FAQ page that new members have to read before being allowed to post for the first time.

In fact, on a couple of forums, using the search button to avoid multiple threads is one of the forum rules. Long serving members get tired of answering the same query time and time again - having stickies would be a good way around this.

Sticky's are a great idea! When we have a really good discussion on something that you think would benefit having at the top of the forum just let me know!

HenryK, you're doing a great job! The only thing I would want is a "Literature" heading in the "General" topics. What can I say, I'm a book geek first and foremost!

My other question is about blue/foul language. As a ex-english major and all around language enthusiast, I LOVE me some cuss words. I'm also fond of them because I NEVER stutter on 'em. I can let loose the most beautiful string of obscenities in my fastest, hardest, most staccato voice and not stutter once. I also feel like stuttering has effected how I see curse words in that I understand all words at their most basic level, a series of sounds, and I don't see the point in making certain series of sounds taboo. Words only have as much power as you give them.

Anyhoo, cursing is a part of my normal speech and I'd like to use it here. Note that I won't be pissy if the answer is no. I understand. The other forum I'm active in is a orchid forum and I wouldn't even bother asking there.

Cuss words lose their power when overused. Better save them for when you really need them

I don't care who you really are but for the sake of your own integrity, post in the correct section. Maybe the "Technology" forum where your services might be helpful.
